Nexus Platform
CIELO'S NEXUS PLATFORM
A proprietary framework for developing low carbon liquid fuels facilities across North America.
It integrates the key elements required to successfully develop and execute low-carbon fuels projects, including site selection, feedstock strategy, Indigenous and community partnerships, regulatory planning, carbon management, financing, and offtake. Technology-independent by design, each project is configured using the best available commercial technologies for the target feedstock and fuel products, supported by the engineering expertise, market intelligence, and renewable fuels and carbon management intellectual property acquired from Canadian Discovery Ltd. (CDL)
WHAT THE NEXUS PLATFORM IS
It is not a single technology, a single project, or a single jurisdiction.
The Platform integrates the following capabilities:
- Proprietary intellectual property covering renewable and low-carbon fuels pathways, materially expanded through the CDL transaction.
- Technical databases supporting feedstock characterization, technology screening, and process selection.
- Analytical tools for project economics, carbon intensity modelling, and regulatory pathway analysis.
- Strategic feedstock relationships and offtake structuring methodology.
- Technology independence, with the ability to source third-party, commercialized, proven technology aligned to each project’s requirements.
- Commercial structuring and partnership models, including Indigenous-led ownership structures.
- A disciplined stage-gate approach to project advancement, from opportunity screening to commercial operations.
What Defines a Nexus Platform Site
Secured feedstock
Long term access to reliable, low cost biomass or biogenic waste streams, validated through independent feedstock intelligence.
Indigenous and community partnership
A majority Indigenous owned or community aligned ownership structure integrated into the project from day one, ensuring long-term alignment, participation, and shared value creation.
Stackable incentive economics and disciplined capital structure
Projects positioned to capture available clean fuel credits, tax incentives, carbon markets and policy-driven value streams across North America, supported by a disciplined project-level capital structure that aligns developer, Indigenous partner, and capital providers.
Investment grade offtake
Long term agreements with credit worthy counterparties in aviation, marine, and heavy transport markets.
Integrated carbon management
Projects designed from the outset to incorporate carbon capture and storage where geology and economics support it, enabling negative carbon intensity fuels and access to tax incentives and carbon dioxide removal markets.
First Commercial-Scale Project
Project Nahoonai demonstrates the Platform's end-to-end capability.
Nahoonai is the flagship Nexus Platform site.
It is being developed through a Strategic Project Framework Agreement (SPFA) between Cielo and Tano T'enneh Enterprises (TTE), the economic development arm of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation, in a majority Indigenous owned limited partnership advancing the project through development, financing, construction, and operations.
